Prep

Lent is here.  Time to straighten up and get right with the Lord.  I've got my work cut out for me.

Solo

I found out Monday night that it was "Blue Monday".  I believe it because I felt the funk all day long.  The date calculation has something to do with weather, debt level, time since holidays, and a few other things.  Not sure that's where my funk was coming from though.  Glad it didn't last long.

C'mon spring.

Stroll

The snowmobiles were out in full force today.  I took my daily walk on the trail and must have seen thirty of them.  The smell of their exhaust reminded me of trolling for trout in the pontoon.

Stuck

We got a bunch of snow last night.  From what I can tell, we got around 10-12 inches here in Cambridge.  We're lucky the power didn't go out. It did for a lot of people.  My driveway plower got his truck stuck early this morning.  I ended up shoveling the whole driveway by hand.  It was a good time.  Really.  My shoulder's are sore, but I feel good otherwise.  Shoveling, like lawn mowing, is fun the first couple times.  Last year that's all we got, a couple times.  Who knows what'll happen this year.

I've been having a hard time putting in 40 hours lately.  Not sure if I'm burned out, or bored, or what.  My job has just not been interesting to me lately.  It's been difficult getting up in the morning and staying at my desk after lunch each day.  Hope it passes soon.

I find myself missing the camper, the outdoors, leaves, campfires, warm nights, etc.  I've been daydreaming often.  I take the dog out on the trail almost every day.  I've been feeling this overwhelming need to get outside, to get fresh air and sun.  Seasonal Affective Disorder?  Tomorrow is the shortest day of the year, so I guess it makes sense.

Pajamas

We had our big family Christmas celebrations this past weekend, first at Dad's, then at the Iowa 4H Center.  It was awesome as usual.  I'm so glad that we all still love spending this time together.  It's what the kids will always remember about Christmas; the family time.

7 days and a few hours until Santa comes.

Consistency

Madeline went to see Santa a few days ago.  I don't know how they do it but Hardware Hank's in Huxley always manages to get the real Santa every year.

Consistency is difficult.  Eat healthy one day, eat crappy the next.  Exercise five days one week, zero days the next.  It goes the same for parenting, work, housekeeping, on and on etc.  Life is hard work.  It's always a struggle.  I suppose attitude makes a huge difference.  Especially if it's consistent.

Time

It's way too late to be writing. I should be sleeping. Can't though.

Christmas is just 29 days, 23 hours away. Crap.

Abby had a boy come over and hang out tonight. Not ready for that again. Being a father of a 16 yr old girl, I'm not a big teen boy fan. They are the enemy.

I just watched seasons 1 & 2 of The Walking Dead on Netflix recently, which is a very cool zombie show. My favorite line must be when the old man talks about Jesus promising to raise the dead and saying "this isn't really what I pictured". hahaha.

We cut down our tree this weekend.  Are we greener or... browner(??)  for cutting down a real tree?  I think it's a good thing.  It sure is fun.

I thought that a 4 day weekend would give me more than enough time to accomplish everything that I wanted to accomplish this weekend. Has it really been three plus days since I left work for the long weekend?
I messed with some long exposures this past week. They're posted here. I'm gonna keep at it. There's a lot to say with these and I'm just scratching the surface.

Happy Shopping
