Blah

The Troutslayer trip to Taneycomo was great. Didn't last long, but was nice to get away. Angie and I had fresh trout for dinner on Monday night. Yum.

The weather around here sucks this week. It's rainy and cold. The beginning of the end.
Speaking of the end, I can't wait until the election is over. It's all getting so ridiculous. The ads, the media, the bullshit. Enough.
I've been re-listening to the 6th Harry Potter book this week as I drive. I miss the dream world sometimes. It's nice avoiding all the news as well. Reality can be a stupid ugly bitch.

Colors

Lots going on this month…

Happy Birthday to my nephew Jordan who will be eleven on Saturday.

Good Luck to my brother George, who will be running his first marathon on Sunday.

We’re 90% certain that Alex may have landed a job with HyVee in Ankeny. Very cool.

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of photographing the wedding of my best friend from childhood. It was small & informal, but very nice. Congratulations Andy & Maria.

Last Saturday, I took some senior photos of a young man we go to church with. My first set of a non-relative. It went ok. I’m thankful that we had his girlfriend and my daughter with us. Having a female point of view certainly helped.

You know that tooth Madeline lost about four years ago? Well its replacement is finally coming in. She will look funny with a mouth full of teeth.

The fall color show is in full swing right now. I LOVE this time of year. I wish October was three months long.

I’m headed to Taneycomo with the Troutslayers for our annual campout. We’re leaving at 3:30am tomorrow (Friday) and will be back on Sunday evening. We normally do our fall campout in southern Iowa or northern Misery, but this year Taneycomo was calling.

Lastly, Happy Birthday to my son Robby, who’d be 14 tomorrow. If he were here, I bet he’d want me to take him for his driving permit asap. If only.

Only 195 miles left to my goal of 500. I’m behind schedule, but barring any health/body issues, I can still make it.

Flying South

This is Homecoming week in the Ballard school system. The girls are excited for a fun week.

Abby had a slumber party on Friday night for her birthday. She had 5 friends over. They pulled their first all nighter.

Deep Shit

Angie and I just finished watching the debate. They're both politicians at heart and there's no way around it. Neither one of them seem to care about real issues, they just want votes. We're screwed either way, but a vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism. You know, Karl Marx, communism. Google it. Look at his policies and tell me I'm wrong. You can't.

How about the Washington Mutual failure? The biggest bank failure EVER in the history of the US just went down yesterday. Who gives a shit, let's debate. Americans want to keep on pretending their problems don't exist. WHAT THE HELL?

On a lighter note...

I got up this morning about 5am and went for a run. It was beautiful. Living away from the city definitely has it's perks. There were so many stars, the crescent moon, settling fog, and QUIET. I felt like I was in a different world.

During my run it was dark. At the highway intersection, the streetlight was cutting through the fog from above. It looked to me like what heaven's light might look like coming down and calling for us. I envisioned a naked body standing under it, arms outstretched, looking up into it. I'd like to make that photo someday. If you want to volunteer, let me know. ;-)

Congratulations to my brother in law George for running 20 miles for the first time today. G is training for the Des Moines Marathon and is a stud. Good luck George.

I took my nephew's senior photos on Sunday. It was a very fun day. Brandon is a cool guy.

Happy Birthday to my daughter Abby who turns 12 tomorrow, and my wife who will be 29 on Tuesday.

Transition

We've been having lots of fall weather lately. The beans are starting to turn gold, the corn is turning brown, football is in full swing (Go Hawks!). Fall is everyone's favorite season, isn't it? The only thing I don't like about fall is when it ends.

On Tuesday, I have to go to Vegas for work again. I'll be back on Saturday.

Biker

Earlier this summer I took Madeline's training wheels off and tried to teach her to ride without them. She couldn't get the hang of it. I put them back on, but raised them up as high as I could so she'd get the balance thing figured out.

A couple of days ago, she told Angie that she was ready to take them off. Angie did, and Madeline rode away like she was a pro. She's been riding her bike up and down the street all week. She's fallen a couple of times, taking out another baby tooth, and skinning up her knee and chin, but she keeps getting back on. Time to stick her in a drawer as my father in law would say (so she'll quit growing up).

Pigskin

I watched my nephew's football game today. He made his team's only touchdown and some great tackles. Great job Jordan.
